Musings From Marlow

See this picture on the left? That's the River Thames- when not in London. I took that shot on top of a massive wooden bridge. The river here is a well behaved, serene and tranquil body of water that even reflects the sunlight in a better manner. Not that I'm being overtly 'critical' of its presence in London- it's just that the SAME BODY LOOKS SO MASSIVELY DIFFERENT WHEN NEARER TO THE SOURCE.

In essence, just like in our childhood- we are most serene (barring aside the audible cacophony of crying)- but our souls are essentially PURE. As life moves ahead-this purity is quite often mixed, filtered and eventually lost in the journeys that each one of us undertakes. I often wonder-if we look at the world as a child- and ask the same questions as a child does and possess the same energy, vigour and 'happy-go-luckiness' attitude-I think this life can be a much more worthy adventure.

So, I come to Marlow- Few miles away from Maidenhead, take these trips because of their proximity to my west-side location in London. (Cheap skate that I am)- nevertheless, the picture postcard (almost) pefectness of the place-really blew me away. Of course, I'm not that excited as I would be on my very first country walk (I remember Chesham- wow), BUT I truly had to INSTILL this appreciative spirit. 'Thank you for this magnificent natural habitat that I exist in- thank you for the sunlight that sparkles on the river'- this is not something I should take for granted.

This is the magnificent English countryside- one that I had been dreaming of roaming in- all during the last 500 days. When I look out of the train approaching the chilterns- I am that 'excited puppy' with my long dog ears flapping in the wind (figuratively of course!) And I don't think I've done a shoddy job over this summer- No Sir! I'll rank all of my country walks that I've done up till now in a different posting. I bid adieu for now- but with a strong sense of longing for the greens again.

(This on the left here is the bank where I had lunch- what a lovely place to have an 'Oh my Dear lord-what am I eating' Utterly shite Sainsburys Tuna pasta- prefer the Tesco's one any day!)
