Whoa!
That was a long break indeed, can't say that I'm back to blogging! (not that it would matter to anyone). But yeah, thoughts venting up in the system which needed release- other than my journal. So here I am- some special spark ignites within- knowing this is on a 'public platform'. Cmon, who doesn't like fame here? Well, this should be a journey in the opposite direction. This blog should represent my 'humble' side (then it should be rather short!)
Anyway, to stop contradictions- lets do a review of a 'A thousand suns' by Linkin Park. To put it simply- 'What the hell is wrong with you guys?'. Seriously, I was listening to 'Papercut' in the shower this morning. A fantastic song- way ahead of it's time- felt like it was done by a different band. I mean listening to that boiled my very insides! How can a band that talented come up with this malarkey?
Ok, the 'critics' are raving about it- a lesson in political discourse, one reviewer said. I wish I could just line em up and ...and.... shoot em with a BB gun on their toes. Seriously, we do not need political mish-mash in albums now- that phase is done.. it's OVER! Comprende? AND if you guys wanna get political- at least do it in a musical format that a fanboy (filipino like soul) within me gets all grooved up- then I shall get your message through my system. Because, right now- your music sucks major ARSE! Wasn't it all supposed to be about the music?
There are legions of fans- millions of us who were expecting a 'slight' U turn from minutes to midnight- a RETURN TO FORM- Damnit! You've gone deeper into the schism of 'Bullshittyness'. How does the record studio approve this audible massacre? (Simple- coz you're LP- you can do 'anything').Trust me, if this record came up from a youngster in a garage in Birmingham- it wouldn't even have made it to the demo mode. Because, of your past Success LP, you have managed to get across your message in the 'laziest' of manners possible- it's not just the message.. It's also the MUSIC (for crying out loud). And if I dont give a critically polishing review to you guys- I don't 'care' about the hungry and dying masses? No? Yes- I do- but there are 'other' ways to express them- please don't put this on a CD.
Finally, what in the flying fuck is the drummer, guitar and bass player doing on the CD? Is there any use to have 5-6 members for this? Trust me I'm not going to look up their names on wikipedia or anything- because a) It's not worth it as they're not playing on the album and b) LP are a bunch of lazy bums- so I'm taking a healthy 'cue' from them.
So yeah, there you go- this SHOULD be the voice of the masses-I'm not hiding my TRUE emotions- the first 2 albums were pure ecstacy. Minutes to Midnight was a bridge to dullness- but a pardonable sin. But it turns out the bridge was to this silly, good for nothing, beat-less, rock-less, paradise of inconsolable whining and apathy.
Linkin Park- 'Please buy this album and support our stance on the war and other issues'
Me- 'Fuck off- make some good music first and then I'll think of 'downloading' your album'
Linkin Park- 'Would you come see us in the live show?'
Me- 'US? US?... you're joking right? This album was made by your producer and Chester and the Japanese dude added vocals to it- a duo performance? No thanks'
Linkin Park- 'Would you give us another chance? You've belittled us so badly.. Waah Waah'
Me- 'You know what- I WILL GIVE YOU another chance, but trust me- it'll be the last one. AND if there is one mention of bombs, lives or war- I shall personally come to the studio and 'manipulate' your band in a salty dog manner.
Linkin Park- 'Thank you, sweet supreme maestro'
Me-'Get outta my sight!'
Album Score: 1.2/10 purely for the album cover (see top left)
Have a great day!
